GIPD will be hosting the Venger Tactical LE Precision Rifle Shooter's Course (LVL1). April 7-11, 2025.  During the course you will learn all the basic precision rifle tradecraft you will need to employ as a Law Enforcement Precision Rifle shooter. Once you have passed your written and shooting exam we will learn some non-standard shooting positions, do some urban shooting drills and end with some scenario based shooting drills. Upon completion, the student will receive a certificate for a 40 hour Precision Rifle Course from Venger Tactical. We will focus on the following:

Precision Rifle Marksmanship

Handling techniques

Safety

Optical sights

Zeroing, reading and setting turrets

Ballistics

Weather and other effects

Data Books and Cards

Range estimation

Reduced Light

Use of cover and concealment

Shooting Moving targets

Rifle maintenance

Non-standard shooting positions

The effects of glass on your bullet

 

Requirements:

-Precision rifle of .223 Rem to 7.62. with Bi-Pod. Rifle must be able to shoot 1 MOA minimum at 100 yards.

-Precision rifle scope with adjustable turrets. Preferably with MRAD reticle and turret adjustments. No hunting scopes.

-500 rounds precision rifle rounds

-50 rounds of practice handgun ammunition

-Pass a shooting qualification.  

-Pass a Proficiency Assessment. This is done throughout the week.

-During the class you will complete a written and shooting exam.

The course will be held in Grand Island and Hastings, NE.  You will need to make lodging arrangements. Lodging can be made in Grand Island. If you stay in Grand Island you can ride to training with GIPD.
